Coxleigh Barton Equestrian Centre is a 400 acre farm estate just 10 minutes outside of Barnstaple offering excellent DIY & full livery. It is now offering full venue hire facilities for horse riders in the North Devon area including cross country, menage with full set of jumps and grass arena.
They will be opening their doors to the public for the first time on Saturday 11th of August 2012. With a great day of activities planned including equestrian displays and a table top tack sale it is also a perfect chance to see what equetrian facilities will now be available to hire by horse riders in the North Devon area.
“We have been known locally predominately as a BHS accredited livery yard but have always had the aim to develop the centre so that none liveries could hire our facilities” explained Jo Gay, owner “We have been busy over the last 12 months with a number of improvements which has included a new surface to our outdoor 20m x 60m menage and extended our cross country course to include steps, ditch and a water complex.
We are now able to offer full venue hire facilities including Cross Country Jumps, Flood Lit 20m x 60m Menage, Grass Arena and over 9 kilometers of tracks and fields to ride over, we thought the best way to show it all off was to have an open day”.
So if you are in the North Devon area put the date in your diary and come and enjoy a display of Grand Prix dressage movements a cross country course walk with Ian Wright, demonstration by Helen Tompkins and much more, it all kicks of with a tack sale at 12.30.
“I have been riding in Devon since just before my 6th birthday, and can still remember my first riding lesson like it was yesterday. Like so many children I went through pony club, and did all the jumping and charging around the place, and thought Dressage was boring!
It wasn’t until I watched Carl Hester doing a demo with one of his Grand Prix horses Escapado that I bravely announced that I wanted to become a dressage rider just like Carl, and so the journey began! When I was 16 I got my first ‘real’ dressage horse Lantinus, Laddie at home. I have trained him myself from a very green 5 year old to International level, he and I have won regional, and national titles and then he took me into the prize giving in my first ever International competition and he is now working on the Grand Prix movments at home. I have the privilage of being trained by Carl Hester; whose knowledge and wisdom is amongst the best the world has to offer. Through Carl I have learnt the correct way to train horses from youngsters to Grand Prix.
During my demonstation I will talk through all the Grand Prix movments and show how we train horses to do them. In the hope that you too will feel as inspiered as I did, although I am the first to admit, I am a long way off being Carl Hester just yet!”
With these extra facilities now availabe for hire coupled with the already established holiday lets Coxleigh Barton’s horse camps and holidays will make this a very attractive option to riding clubs and horse groups. “We are able to cater for up to 6 horses with the riders being able to stay in luxury self catering facilities on the farm”.
